Home and Heart of Kellard Safaris:
Suguroi Ranch

Twiga House on Suguroi Ranch, set in the midst of quintessential Laikipia County, is home to Sarah, family and horses and where your adventure begins. This privately owned cattle ranch offers us exclusive access to a simply wonderful expanse of prime, untouched wild Africa. Neighbouring ranches and conservancies allow us the incredibly fortunate privilege to ride and camp, enabling us to soak up the vast and beautiful surroundings with an abundance of unhabituated wildlife.

Our traditional base camp 'Kambi Kwetu' is set on the river banks of the Ewaso Nyerio River, just down stream from our home, Twiga House, where the horses are also situated. With stunning views of Mount Kenya and a perfect spot to watch the wildlife passing by, it really is the most idyllic location to set up base.

Why Laikipia?

Devoid of commercialisation and over-exploitation, Laikipia offers a truly wild and ever-changing environment in comparison to most other regions of Kenya. Traditional ranches and dramatic landscapes, encompassing millions of square miles of conservation land, leaves this a rare and special world to explore. This tough and rugged region supports Northern species seen nowhere else on Earth, including many endangered species, such as the Black Rhino, the Grevy’s zebra and packs of African Wild Dogs and Lelwel's Hartebeest, along with the classic Big Five.

This beautiful region is where some of Kenya's most encouraging conservation success stories are developing. The environment is carefully managed to protect and preserve wildlife, whilst also promoting human wild-life coexistence, benefiting local communities and allowing us to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us, with wildlife existence at the forefront.

With incredible views of the snow-capped mountain, thriving wildlife and an unrivalled status, Laikipia is the ultimate place to experience this incomparable charm.
